“Amazing grace how sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see”
The writer of this hymn, John Newton, so succinctly expresses the way Christians feel when they have come to know the Lord Jesus on a personal level – and this includes myself.
I was not brought up in a Christian home and the only time I went inside a church was for weddings. I had a very negative opinion of the Bible, although I had never read it! Thankfully, God had other ideas.
God got my attention through several incidents. I then read the gospels contained in the Bible (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) which are actually biographies of Jesus Christ. As I read them, I realised that God was wholly good and that I was not, and that I needed a Saviour. That Saviour is Jesus Christ.
Over a long period of time, God has been preparing me for ministry. I come to Park Hill with one ambition – that is to preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
This is so that the believer would be strong in the love that God has for them, and that those, who, at this moment are strangers to God’s grace, would hear and realise their great need of forgiveness, which can be found only in Christ.
